Programme Schedules.

We understand today's parents have many differing commitments on their time. With that in mind we have devised four different schedules to fit your particular life style.

You may wish to chose between the morning or afternoon preschool sessions. Alternatively we have a morning half day or a full day session. We also offer before or after school care if required.

Children benefit most from consistent, daily attendance which helps establish the cornerstone of authentic Montessori education.

A variety of enrichment classes are conducted during the afternoon sessions as listed below.

Should you have any questions about any of our programmes and how they can best suit your child, please do not hesitate to get in touch.

Preschool Programme (3-6years):

Morning Session: 9.00am to 12.00noon
Afternoon Session: 2.00pm to 5.00pm

Arrive at School

Arriving for school on time is extremely important for children even at this young age! Being on time allows the children to have a pleasant transition from the home to the school environment, easing them in gently and calmly. Their teachers are always there to greet and interact with them on arrival, settling them for their day ahead. Circle time starts at 9.00 a.m. and 2.00 p.m. so it's also important that the children do not miss any of the wonderful themes we learn about each week.

Song and Rhyme Time

The children will learn songs and rhymes throughout their time in school during circle time. A Song and Rhyme sheet will be included in your child's school bag each month. This includes most of the songs and rhymes that your child will learn during that month.

Classroom Assistant

Each day the children take turns to become a classroom assistant. This teaches the children to take responsibility for themselves and their environment. The classroom assistant is given certain tasks to carry out helping his/her teachers during the day. It is done alphabetically to ensure all children get a turn.

Secret Phonic Bag

Every Friday the classroom assistant takes home our special phonic bag. The bag has a sound written on the front which is the sound we will be learning in circle time the following week. Your child is required to find something at home beginning with the 'sound of the week', put it in the bag, and bring it back into school the following Monday, e.g. 'A' for Apple, 'B' for Bat etc. They are not allowed to tell anyone what is in the bag, as we will all try to guess what it is at circle time! If it is a difficult sound and you cannot find an object, you could draw a picture instead or print one from your computer! This is a fun interactive way to help the children learn their phonics whilst extending some of the Montessori method into the home environment. We would ask that you put only one or two items in the bag. Participation is important to your child so please try to remember the bag when it is your child's turn.

Montessori Work Time

The children will work with both Montessori and Teacher prepared educational materials. All materials are categorized into Exercises of Practical Life, Sensorial, Maths, Language, Culture, Science and Art. Because each child is at a different stage of development they will learn at their own pace and are only ever encouraged to move on when they are ready. A child's learning is led by each individual child. The children will work one-on-one with a designated teacher working their way through the Montessori programme.

Break Time

Break time is taken spontaneously by the children, allowing them the opportunity to develop social and conversational skills by interacting with each other over a healthy snack.

Garden Time

Weather permitting, the children will play outside for approximately thirty minutes each day. This encourages imaginative role-play and allows interaction with their peers whilst developing their gross motor skills.

Arts and Crafts

The children will participate in arts and crafts each week and, where possible, it will be linked to the weekly theme. This normally takes place each Wednesday or Thursday; it can vary from week to week. The children actively participate in Arts and Crafts and all work taken home is completed solely by the children. There may be times when some of the arts and crafts may require templates. In such cases the teachers will prepare these. However, the children will always finish the project and what they take home is their own work.

The Morning/Afternoon Class is the heart of the Montessori experience. Each group of children is a little community. The multi-age grouping of 3-6 year olds creates opportunities for collaboration and cooperation. By developing a sense of responsibility for themselves and others, children grow in self-discipline and self-esteem.

The children engage in spontaneous, meaningful activities at their own pace and rhythm. Each child is unique with different interests, different abilities, and different needs. At K.I.D.S SEAhome Montessori School, we never lose sight of the individual needs of each child within the social setting of the entire group.

The multi-age grouping in the morning/afternoon class fosters a caring and cooperative classroom. This important dimension of the classroom focuses on the whole child within the supportive setting of the social group. It allows each individual to grow in his/her social role and become a contributing member. Parents and teachers form a supportive community. This sense of community begins within our walls.

A rich variety of hands-on Montessori materials provide a concrete way to experience abstract concepts in the following curriculum areas:

  • Exercise of Practical Life
  • Sensorial Subjects
  • Language & Literacy
  • Mathematics and Critical Thinking
  • Nature and Science
  • Geography and Cultural Awareness
  • Creative Art and Drama
  • Music and Movement
  • Physical Education
